Happy Halloween

October 29, 2010

Have a safe weekend everyone! I've been so busy with school/work I haven't even had time to think of a costume. I'm thinking, if the weather permits, I can wear my American Apparel batwing hoodie and make some bat ears and go as a.. BAT!

The Dude and I are on our way to New York. I am going to hang out with my darling Beau and maybe surprise this guy and The Dude is going to the Red Bull jam in Brooklyn.

Here's a really simple sugar cookie recipe if you want some last minute festive treats. I wrote some notes at the end as words of encouragement :) Happy Halloween!

Christmas mode

October 28, 2010

I've started making plans for December and I'm in the Christmas mode. Also because I've already started on Christmas gifts this year :) How on earth do I have time to do all that I have to do for school and work.. AND think about Christmas? I love the holidaze.

Remembering Gemma

October 27, 2010

The last photo is one of my favorite W Magazine issues from April 2004. The Romance editorial is amazing (from what I can remember) and I remember being in love with this cover so much. It's probably the photo that made me fall in love with Gemma.

I can't find my phone

I am notorious for not being able to find my phone. I can have it in my hands one minute, and not know where it is the next. You'd think that by now I'd keep it in my pocket or put it in its own designated spot but noo. I just put it places--nooks, on top of black shirts, under a table.

I usually have The Dude call the phone but what if I don't have him one afternoon? Then what?

You just put in your number and it calls your phone for you. Seems kind of sketchy, but the image/idea is nice :)

Flooded McDonald's

Flooded McDonald's from Superflex on Vimeo.

Superflex is a Danish collective of three dudes. The 20 minute film is on view at the Hirschorn until November 28th.

I don't know what I think about this. It's a beautiful film, but is it supposed to be tragic? As in "there-goes-capitalist-excess"? A flooding McDonald's. I mean, it's so simple yet insanely complex.. to the point where I don't know what my opinion is... borderline not having one because my mind is blown. It's funny, for sure.. but I imagine Katrina and the like and the tragedy of it all. And the potential loss of McDonald's is not tragic. But I also imagine it as a look into the future--the end of capitalism. A desolate American way-of-life that was its own downfall in culture and health.

I miss you, even if you're a cluts.

Roasted crimini mushrooms & kale on top of creemy sweet pots

I eat meat at least once a week but most of the time, especially because of the Dude, my meals are mostly vegetarian. This is one of my favorites and shall soon be a staple. And it's so easy! I even took some over to Ok Natural for Peter to have for dinner.

Epicly Later'd: Antwuan

I think everyone's been waiting for the Antwuan episodes. I tried to hold off for all four parts to come up but I was too curious. He's such a sweet kid and smiles a whole lot. Can you believe he's only 22?

I don't know if the embedded video up there is working, so you can click here for the first episode.

Farmer's market finds

Spinach, bell peppers, milk, apple cider, broccoli, eggs, carrots, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, and sunflowers & chrysanthemums (I think).

Nice days

My little French espadrilles are so incredibly dirty and I have no idea how I should go about cleaning them. Aide moi!

Kale chips

I don't know about you, but whenever I buy kale I can never finish the whole bundle before it goes bad. So I've been making kale chips! It's such an amazing alternative to potato chips and perfect for people who can't resist nibbling on something every hour.
