brewing coffee using a French press. This is the only way I have coffee when I am in the comfort of my own apartment and it's the way everyone else should have their coffee too. It requires a little bit more attention and can't be conveniently started by your morning timer, but the taste is infinitely better. I don't think a scale and thermometer is necessary, just make sure you don't use boiling boiling water (so you don't burn the coffee) and pour out most of the deliciousness right away (leaving the bottom some) so it doesn't get bitter.
