Fire Yesterday

December 07, 2010

There was a huge fire yesterday on "The Block" which is Baltimore's "red-light district" which just has a lot of adult stores and businesses. An act of GoD?! WhoAo~

The Fall out here is so pretty

Fartscape

July 18, 2010

We've been spending about an hour a day at Artscape, mostly eating and drinking. The coolest thing, I'd say, was the "DeLorean". It wasn't actually a DeLorean, but I thought it was still rad. The Dude's favorite part of Artscape are the mist tents, which he took full advantage of in the blazing 100 degree sun. Cold War Kids for about 5 minutes and we were done.

Snow vs flooding rain

January 31, 2010

I've never been a huge fan of snow in Baltimore, probably because it leaves me immobile and trapped. As you know, it has been flooding in Southern California and this time, I think I'd prefer Baltimore snow than California rain. The Dude and I took a nice stroll to my studio and back and I think the combination of being properly dressed for the occasion and being arm and arm with my lover made the snowfall pleasurable.

But, I do have to stay that this winter must pass as soon as possible because I am ready to wear my spring/summer shoes!

Where did he get a megaphone? WHO gave him a megaphone? He was reciting passages from Isaiah and spreading the Good Word. That lady in front of him was agreeing with everything he said. "IF YOU DON'T LEARN, YOU'LL BURN"

Marathon frenzy

October 12, 2009

Mt. Vernon could NOT handle the marathon happening on Saturday morning. Everyone was freaking out since you couldn't get from one side of town to another if it meant crossing St. Paul. There was a marathon happening the weekend Nick and I went to San Francisco and that was a nightmare, but people still kept their cool. In Baltimore, people freak the feck out.

Should I run next year? Hmm..

Traffic

September 21, 2009

This is the new ginormous building that is coming in down the street. It's going to have a Barnes and Noble, a couple retail shops and restaurants, "luxury" apartments, and a parking structure with 1200 spots. HOPEFULLY, the school will work out some sort of way WE (Micans) can get some of that. I'm not sure how I feel about this monstrosity. I'm just bummed about how busy Mt. Vernon is going to be. I like the gentle hustle-bustle of the area. I'm just afraid that it's going to turn into a college town with a strange mix of artsy fartsies and regular people.

This is Baltimore

Really beautiful row houses with cute stoops and flower beds.

But a block away is the jailhouse.

Reunited and it feels so good

January 25, 2009

Last night was amazing. It was the first time in a long time that a good group of dudes got together and hung out at a party. There was some serious "dancing" during the SMARTS set, and then some serious "fucking-shit-up" in the house. There was the usual yelling, screaming, and stomping (especially when someone turned the lights out or if someone new walked in the room), along with throwing things, lighting household objects on fire, and peeing everywhere BUT the toilet. For a second, someone mentioned that the coffee table might be drunk, which would've been terrible news.. but the coffee table was sober. Chad found a tub of ice cream in the freezer that everyone went in on with a giant wooden spoon, then when Chad decided everyone was done eating it, he put it IN the light fixture on the ceiling. Tom D was probably the most outrageous guy in the whole house. I think he fell into Dondero's drums during their set.

When the night was over and everyone wreaked of beer and cigarettes, we went to Nino's for some 3am pizza (where there was almost a serious brawl between a customer and the guy making all of the food). Chad, Chris, Robbie, and I came back to my apartment and passed out to Robbie laughing at Japanese game shows on YouTube. I remember waking up at one point and having Chad in front of me, then trying to roll over and Robbie being on the other side. Then later in the morning, Robbie was on the hardwood floor while Chris slept like a baby on the couch. I was SO tired and SO stinky.

I love Baltimore.

After sending all the boys home in the afternoon, I spent most of the day inside, cleaning and watching movies. Chad picked me up around 6:00 to go witness some serious bromance, which was a lot of fun. I got to see a lot of dudes that I haven't seen in a while, plus dudes I didn't even expect to be in the hood.

There was some 50 year old man at the bar, sitting up and passed out. Then someone proceeded to light a napkin on fire and placed it on this man's head whilst yelling, "FIRE!". It was amazing.

I love Baltimore.
