I'm on a plane with Nicholas to play with Arj for a few days. Have a great weekend!

New Haven, Connecticut

November 19, 2010

I woke up at 4:30 yester-morning to take a train to New Haven. Yale was having an open house that I wanted to visit so I skipped class (and an entire day) to make the trip. The 4 1/2 hour train ride up was not bad at all. I did a crossword puzzle and one sudoku puzzle. Though, it made me nauseous. I don't even know why I brought a book to read because if I read for long periods in moving vehicles (buses, cars, trains.. not airplanes) I feel queezy.

I got to New Haven and was starving. I did some research (food research) and wanted to go to this French restaurant for lunch, but they weren't going to be open for another half hour and I was starving. So I opted for a small cafe instead. The decor was terribly decked out in all Ikea furniture and oddly arranged, but they sandwich I got was so yummy! And the coffee was great. I was glad not to have to go to the Starbucks down the street.

I stayed on Chapel Street and visited the shops and read the menu's for the restaurants. I was surprised to see how all of the boutique's were really.. country. Or dated. The French restaurant looked beautiful, but some of the dress shops and jewelry stores seemed old. There was one boutique that was super chic. Tracy B. I wanted a few tops/dresses but didn't want to lug around a shopping bag my entire trip, and they were closed by the time I needed to leave. Although, seeing as they have a website, I might just call and ask for them. Everything is really basic and they don't have tops with applique's or bird silhouette cutouts or anything silly. She even has a few pieces made out of organic cotton.

After meandering the streets of Yale, visiting a couple museums and spending a few hours listening to people say how difficult it is to get into their program, it was already time for my train back to Baltimore. I stopped by a vegan/vegetarian spot called Claire's Corner Copia and got a quesadilla and smoothie to-go. There's another example of a cheesily decored restaurant. Like an old grandma owns it. The restaurant is organic and sustainable but I don't know how healthy some of the vegan or gluten-free options are. It's so easy to be vegan/gluten free and still eat complete doodoo. The quesadilla was a little salty but I'd definitely revisit that spot.

After an exhausting train-ride back, I got to Baltimore at 11:30pm and went straight to bed. New Haven is a little trashy (the way Baltimore is ghetto or the way Los Angeles is dirty), but it seemed alright. Since living in Baltimore (and the incident on Halloween), I have my guard up extremely high. I was talking to my brother and wondered what the crime rate in New Haven was. After trying to find some stuff out on the old iPhin, New Haven isn't even an option to look at stats.. so maybe I was being paranoid. After all, it is Yale.

Have a great weekend!

I'm back from Austin and sicker than sick. I don't know whether the traveling got to me, or I caught something from someone somewhere.. but my throat feels like a rat is trying to crawl through it, the way a dog gets stuck in a cat door and tries to wiggle it's way through and scratches at the floor. Yeah, that's what I feel like. I can muster up the energy to go to class, but I don't want to give anyone this type of torture, so I opt to stay home. Luckily, it's an easy week so I feel okay with it.

Austin was sick. I bought a ring and a top that I didn't need, but life isn't about what you need, it's about what you want, right? That's completely false, but I'm going to go with it right now. I spent time with Natalie and the ADPhi girlies (yes, that's Alpha Delta Phi, duh) and hung out with the familyyy which was so nice.

Esther (cousin) and Adam (hubby) have two beautiful black labs and I am hooked. Shane has a black lab/pit bull mix and I am convinced my destiny is to have a giant black animal. At one point, Mack would jump on me and I'd be looking at him eye-to-eye. I love it.

I'm definitely glad I'm back in Baltimore, doing me and being productive (minus the last couple days due to the dog-through-the-cat-door situation). I've got some good things coming my way and I am extra stoked on this weather.

ATX!

I'm taking a mini-break

from this place. Check back in a week or so because I need a getaway. I'll be in Austin this weekend and busy in the few days after. Also, I think it's fair to ask the homies that read this a few times a week to holler at me. It's not fair that you get to peek into my life and I don't know anything about what's going on with you. Call me, text me, email me, or if you really want to.. Facebook. And the lurkers can keep creepin.. because you're creepy anyway.

Bye!

No Dayton :(

February 19, 2010

I was supposed to spend the weekend in Dayton to hang out with Jake but life is just not having it. I spent all of yesterday morning talking to people in India about canceling my flight and could barely hear them. IT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE THERE'S AN OCEAN BETWEEN US. What is that called? When you call a company and they have hundreds of phone operators in another country? Like in Slumdog.. ANYWAYS. Too much school work, plus a photoshoot at Gentei which means tons of sprucing of the shop. Not an endless bummer, but a temporary one.

Quick Vegas recap:

Right when we got to the hotel (Palazzo), we went to a gigantic $45/person buffet at the Wynn. The place looks like something from Alice in Wonderland.

N.E.R.D. at LAX

I played roulette and black jack and came up a good amount of money.

Just because you're in Vegas doesn't mean you can wear close to nothing. Or does it? Either way, it's gross. Class all the way.

My dad's drunk lawyer friend giving me $250 in chips at the black jack table, whilst licking my fathers ear.

I spent most of Saturday with my brother since I went out all Friday night without him. We went to the Forum Shops, this time without any celeb sightings. Then we on the roller coaster at New York New York at night, twice. We got tickets to see the Blue Man Group at the Venetian, so we rushed over there after our "Manhattan Express" adventure.

The Blue Man Group was the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life. I was crying at one point. Azul!

Lots of food.

More food.

On our drive home, we stopped at Tangier and I got three pairs of shoes from Aldo, a belt (finally), and a mustard top.

I'm tired. Goodnight.

Viva las Vegas. But I'll be fine if I don't see you for another year.

Las Vegas tomorrow

July 30, 2009

Me and the fam are doing our anual trip to Vegas this weekend. Out of no where, Momma came up to me today and said, "Make sure you take a Chanel bag tomorrow. You're supposed to wear that kind of stuff in Vegas. And make sure you take some nice clothes. It's party time." I don't know about her, but I'm not doing any partying, except for seeing N.E.R.D. tomorrow night at LAX. I thoroughly dislike getting dolled up for Vegas because it is infested with skeezballs and I don't want them even thinking about me. I'll probably play Black Jack for half an hour, then watch a movie in the hotel room and order room service with my brother.

Vegas = not really my thing.
