New Tyler

June 08, 2011

I appreciate Tyler the Creator and OFWGKTA. I think it's really trendy, especially amongst white people (and hipsters), but it's refreshing. Most importantly, it's honest. What I appreciate most about these dudes is that it's bringing back the "crew". Back then, it was all about the crew: NWA, 213, Public Enemy.. and everything was done within the family. Just when you thought music was falling off the earth with the likes of Kesha and our (relatively) newfound interest in "House" music, Odd Future brings a certain level of maturity to the game, even though they're all so young. And I don't mean "maturity" in the sense that they don't rap about bitches and hoes and fucking and money.. but the approach is mature.
