Oatmeal cookies with M&Ms and almonds

October 21, 2010

I made these "Monster Cookies", adapted from The Pioneer Woman with some slight alterations, for the Block Party, along with my favorite Chocolatex3 cookies, Snickerdoodles, and Cornbread.

What do we think about me posting recipes of my makings?

Oatmeal Cookies with M&Ms and Almonds

2 sticks butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 cup M&Ms (I used the fall mix)
1/2 cup almonds, coarsely chopped
2 cups puffed chocolate cereal

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until almost incorporated.

Add oats, M&Ms, almonds, and puffed cereal.

Use an ice cream scoop to plop out large mounds. The cookies will spread while baking.

Bake time between 12-18 minutes, depending on oven and size, so keep an eye out!

Tammy's notes: Ree Drummond's recipe calls for peanut butter chips and chocolate chips, but I compensated by adding more of everything else because the cookie seemed a bit too crazy, but feel free to add whatever you want! Also, pecans are great with this cookie for a more Fall feel.
