'Til You Stop

October 20, 2010

Vienna-based studio Mischer'Traxler has created an automatic cake decorator called, 'Til You Stop'. The machine consists of a rotating platform, icing gun, a motor-run arm and a silver dragées spout, perpetually repeats one production step. It decorates the cake with lines and continuously decorates until the costumer decides to stop the decoration process. Then in a second process sugar pearls are dropped on the glazing. The decor is continuously changing and the costumer decides whether he prefers a simple ornament or a more complex one.

"Til You Stop" was exhibited in ‘Design Criminals’ a cooperation of MAK and departure, curated by Sam Jacob. The show explores and investigatesthe potential of the ornamental and decorative.
